One major performance is the Annual Concert to Benefit South County Hospital.  This year all proceeds support the South County Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. Well known television journalist Jim Taricani was emcee for the event. Next year’s concert is planned for January 30, 2011. Please mark your calendar so you don’t miss this wonderful community event.

MEET THE BAND

The  Wakefield Concert Band has evolved in countless ways throughout its more than 100-year history. Today’s band members, some 75 in all, are professional players and serious amateurs alike. We provide a place for community musicians to develop their skills, have fun, and raise money for charity. Each musician devotes at least 150 hours yearly to the Wakefield Concert Band.

The Wakefield Concert Band plays nearly two dozen concerts each year in Washington, Newport, and Kent Counties, entertaining several thousand Rhode Island listeners and raising thousands of dollars for charitable causes.

The Washington Trust Company is a generous sponsor of the Wakefield Concert Band Soloist Fund.
